Description

Wallace’s Hut, also known as ‘Seldom Seen Hut’ (so nicknamed by bushwalkers because of its dense snow gum environs) was originally built in 1889 by three brothers, Arthur, William and Stewart Wallace, graziers in the Victorian High Country.

They built Wallace’s Hut from snow gum slats and woollybut shingles giving it a rustic, yet sturdy appearance. Many believe it to be the oldest surviving hut on the Bogong High Plains.
